Minister Masiulis: “Airlines see perspectives in Lithuanian airports”

Eligijus Masiulis, Minister of Transport and Communications, had a meeting with a representative of Irish Ryanair airlines that are offering cheap flights. The Ryanair representative is responsible for the development of flight routes. During the meeting perspectives of Ryanair were discussed regarding the airports in Lithuania.

The Ryanair representative informed the Government of the Ministry about the plans to operate direct flights from Kaunas Airport. He also was interested in the possibilities for operation of flights from other Lithuanian airports.
“Opportunities for direct flights from Lithuanian airports to European destinations are increasing. It is obvious that our implemented measures and plans facilitate the efficiency of airports’ operation and attraction of airlines, which are striving to develop the geography of flights and are considering future development plans. Airlines see the perspectives of operation in Lithuanian airports”, said Minister Masiulis.
Ryanair today announced that since the coming spring flights will be operated from Kaunas Airport to Bristol (UK). At present, from Kaunas Ryanair operates flights to 7 destinations.
