The 2008 year was generally successful for Lithuanian transport system, despite the year-end emerging signs of economic recession. This was reflected in statistics. In 2008, transport and communications sector employed 104.5 thousand. people, or 6.9% of all Lithuanian employees, and gross value added (GVA), created by the sector, accounted for 12.7% (12,733 million. com), or 11.4% more than in 2007 year.
